Overview

Groundfall is a nuclear blast simulation app built for education and awareness. We respect your privacy and collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Crash Reports (Sentry)

When the app crashes or encounters an error, we collect anonymous diagnostic data to fix bugs and improve stability. This includes:

Device type and OS version
App version and build number
Stack trace (technical error details)
No screenshot is attached; performance tracing is disabled

We do not intentionally attach names, email addresses or physical location. Diagnostic error messages may contain technical request details. Screenshots and performance tracing are disabled. This data is processed by Sentry and retained for 90 days.

Reverse Geocoding

When you tap the map, the app sends the tapped coordinates to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to display the city name. These are the coordinates you tapped on the map, not your physical location. No account or identity is attached to these requests.

Wind Data

Fallout patterns use a default wind direction and speed, so no request is made. In versions where live wind is enabled, the app sends the simulation coordinates (never your own location) to OpenWeatherMap to fetch the current wind there. No personal data is sent.

Data We Do NOT Collect

Your real location (GPS/location services are not used)
Your name, email, or any account information
Your simulation history (stored only on your device)
Analytics, usage tracking, or behavioral data
Advertising identifiers

Data Storage

All simulation data, history, and preferences are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. Simulation history is removed when local app data is deleted. Trial counters also use platform secure storage and may survive reinstall, particularly on iOS.

Third-Party Services

Map tile providers receive map requests. RevenueCat and the platform app store process purchase receipts and app purchase identifiers to verify Full Access. No account is required.

Sentry (sentry.io) — crash reporting. Their privacy policy.
OpenStreetMap Nominatim — reverse geocoding. Their privacy policy.
OpenWeatherMap — wind data, only where live wind is enabled. Their privacy policy.

Children

Groundfall is rated 12+ due to its subject matter. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app does not require an account or collect personal information from any user.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
